Differences Between POCO X8 Pro and Pro Max, Which One Is More Worth It?

The latest series from POCO has once again captured attention in the global smartphone market. This year, POCO introduced two variants in its newest X Series lineup, namely the POCO X8 Pro and POCO X8 Pro Max. Both devices bring significant improvements over their predecessors, but the “Max” variant comes with several advantages that make it feel more premium.

For users considering buying one of these two devices, understanding the differences between POCO X8 Pro and Pro Max is essential. These differences cover aspects such as display, performance, battery, and additional features.

Performance and Battery Are the Main Differences

One of the most noticeable differences between the POCO X8 Pro and Pro Max lies in the performance sector. The POCO X8 Pro Max is powered by the Dimensity 9500s chipset built on a 3nm process, placing it in the flagship category. This chip delivers high performance and is even claimed to run demanding games like Genshin Impact at up to 120fps smoothly.

On the other hand, the POCO X8 Pro uses the Dimensity 8500-Ultra chipset, which is still very powerful in its class but sits one level below the Max variant. For daily use and gaming, its performance remains solid, though not as aggressive as the Max version in terms of efficiency and graphics power.

Another key difference is battery capacity. The POCO X8 Pro Max is equipped with a massive 8,500mAh battery based on silicon carbon (Si/C) technology. This is one of the largest batteries ever featured in a POCO device, offering exceptional endurance for all-day use and beyond.

Meanwhile, the POCO X8 Pro comes with a 6,500mAh battery, which is still considered large in its segment. Both models support 100W fast charging, but the extra capacity in the Max version is clearly an advantage for users with high mobility.

Display, Features, and Price Differences

In terms of display, the POCO X8 Pro Max is slightly superior with a 6.83-inch screen compared to the 6.59-inch display on the X8 Pro. Despite the size difference, both devices use OLED panels with a resolution of 1,280 x 2,772 pixels, a 120Hz refresh rate, and support for HDR10+ and Dolby Vision. Peak brightness reaches up to 3,500 nits on both, ensuring good visibility even under bright sunlight.

Another advantage of the Max variant is the use of an ultrasonic fingerprint sensor, which is faster and more accurate than the optical sensors typically found in mid-range devices. This enhances both user experience and device security.

In terms of design, the POCO X8 Pro still looks premium with its metal frame and Gorilla Glass 7i protection, making it sturdy and elegant. Both devices also feature a unique dynamic RGB light on the back that can display notifications or sync with music.

For the camera, there are no significant differences. Both the POCO X8 Pro and X8 Pro Max come with a 50MP main camera with OIS, an 8MP ultrawide camera, and a 20MP front camera. This means the photography experience is relatively similar on both devices.

Another key difference lies in pricing. The POCO X8 Pro starts at USD 330 (around Rp5.5 million), making it an attractive option in the mid-range segment. Meanwhile, the POCO X8 Pro Max starts at USD 470 (around Rp7.9 million), which aligns with its higher specifications.

Overall, the differences between POCO X8 Pro and Pro Max are found in performance, battery capacity, screen size, and additional premium features. If you are looking for maximum performance and ultra-long battery life, the Pro Max variant is the better choice. However, if you prefer a more affordable device that still delivers strong performance, the POCO X8 Pro is more than sufficient for daily needs.

With reports that this series has already received TKDN certification, it is likely that both devices will be released in the Indonesian market soon. So, it’s just a matter of time before you can experience the performance and features of POCO’s latest lineup firsthand.
