The Maung Ngora squad displayed remarkable fighting spirit when facing PSM Makassar in the continuation of Group B of the Elite Pro Academy (EPA) Super League 2025/26. Playing at SPOrT Jabar, Arcamanik, Bandung City, on Sunday, April 5, 2026, Persib U-18 secured a dramatic 4-3 victory.
The match was played at a high tempo from the very beginning. The visiting team applied early pressure and managed to take the lead through Veron Harpawan Stephano in the 6th minute. That early goal forced the home side to work harder to chase the deficit.
The Maung Ngora squad responded by increasing their attacking intensity. Their efforts paid off when Yohanes Dimas Gandrung scored the equalizer in the 27th minute. However, PSM regained the lead after Veron netted his second goal in the 29th minute. The score remained 2-1 until halftime.
A Tight Match Full of Determination
Entering the second half, Persib U-18 played more aggressively. Yohanes Dimas Gandrung once again made the difference with his second goal in the 46th minute, leveling the score. The goal boosted the players’ confidence to keep pressing the opponent’s defense.
PSM did not stay silent. They took the lead again through Veron Harpawan Stephano’s third goal in the 67th minute, completing his hat-trick. This situation put the Maung Ngora squad behind for the third time in the match.
Despite that, Persib U-18 did not lose their spirit. Continuous pressure eventually paid off when Kaindra Nabil Purnama Ali scored the equalizer in the 76th minute. The score became 3-3, making the match even more intense.
The decisive moment came in the 80th minute when Persib was awarded a penalty. Waliyuddin Shofa, who stepped up as the executor, successfully converted it and brought his team ahead 4-3. The scoreline remained unchanged until the final whistle.
Player Contributions and Coach Evaluation
Persib U-18 head coach Tito Agung Setiawan expressed his gratitude for this important victory. He considered the match extremely intense as his team had to come back from behind three times before winning.
“It was a very tense match, but in the end we managed to secure the victory. This is a result that we should all be grateful for and it will certainly be valuable capital for next week’s away match,” said Tito, quoted from the club’s official website.
He also praised the players for their fighting spirit throughout the game. According to him, mentality was the key factor that enabled the team to turn things around.
“We must appreciate the players’ fighting spirit and their match mentality because we were in a losing position three times. Thank you to all players for their hard work,” he added.
In addition, the presence of Waliyuddin Shofa in defense was considered to have a positive impact. Although he is still adapting, he was able to make a real contribution, including scoring the winning goal from the penalty spot.
Before joining Persib U-18, Waliyuddin Shofa played for Garuda United and recorded 14 appearances in the preliminary round of Group A in the EPA Super League. His adaptation to the new team is considered to be progressing well.
“Wali still needs time to adapt to this team’s style of play. But if we look at this match, he became one of the key contributors to the victory thanks to his confidence. Of course, his presence is very helpful for the team,” said Tito.
This victory keeps the Maung Ngora squad competing at the top of the Group B standings with 56 points. The positive result serves as valuable momentum for Persib U-18 as they prepare for upcoming matches and maintain their chances of finishing in the best possible position this season.
