Narrow 1–0 Win, Persib Reclaim Top Spot After Beating PSBS Biak

Persib Bandung secured a vital three points after edging past PSBS Biak 1–0 in the Week 18 match of the 2025/2026 Liga 1 season at Gelora Bandung Lautan Api Stadium (GBLA) on Sunday, January 25, 2026.

The only goal for the Maung Bandung was scored by Rosembergne “Berguinho” Da Silva in the 87th minute. This result sent Persib back to the top of the standings with 41 points from 18 matches, one point ahead of second-placed Borneo FC.

High-Intensity Start from the Hosts

From the opening whistle, Persib played aggressively with high intensity. Bojan Hodak’s side immediately pressed PSBS Biak’s defense and created several chances through Beckham Putra Nugraha and his teammates. In the first half alone, Persib recorded at least five clear opportunities, but none managed to beat PSBS goalkeeper Kadu. The score remained goalless at halftime.

Tactical Changes Boost Persib’s Attack

In the second half, Hodak made a tactical change by bringing on French striker Andrew Jung to replace Beckham. The move paid off, as Persib became more dominant in attack. Early in the half, Thom Haye fired a powerful long-range shot that forced PSBS’s back line to work hard.

PSBS Down to Ten Men

Persib’s task became easier when PSBS were reduced to 10 men in the 55th minute. Team captain Heri Susanto was sent off after receiving his second yellow card for a foul on Alfeandra Dewangga.

With the numerical advantage, Persib pushed forward relentlessly. Frans Putros had a chance in the 60th minute, but his shot went wide. Three minutes later, Federico Barba came on to replace the injured Dewangga.

Late Pressure Pays Off

PSBS chose to defend deep in an effort to secure a point, but Persib kept searching for a breakthrough. Andrew Jung came close in the 72nd minute, yet his header drifted just wide of the post.

Not wanting to lose momentum, Hodak made another strategic move by introducing Ramon “Tanque” and Robi Darwis in the 80th minute. The substitutions proved decisive.

Berguinho Delivers the Decisive Goal

The long-awaited goal finally arrived in the 87th minute. A cross from Jung on the left was met by Ramon, who then directed the ball to Berguinho, standing unmarked. With a quick touch, the No. 97 calmly beat Kadu and sent the GBLA crowd into raptures.

Clean Sheet Seals Crucial Victory

PSBS attempted to respond in the closing minutes, but Persib’s defense held firm until the final whistle. The 1–0 scoreline remained, giving Persib their ninth home victory of the season.

Bojan Hodak praised the importance of the win over PSBS Biak. Besides maintaining their perfect home record, the narrow victory also returned Persib to the top of the table with 41 points.

“It was important for us to win and keep a clean sheet,” Hodak said during the post-match press conference, as quoted from the club’s official website.
